    Is this it?

    Sunday, March 18, 2007, 08:00 PM [General]

Let me start by saying the only thing I love more than this sport are my wife and 2 girls.  And my mom:)  But sometimes I wonder..... Is this it??  Have I peaked?

Started bowling when I was 6.... Jr Leagues and traveling tournamnets.... Then college bowling for 4 years... Then was really in it for a couple of years then backed off of the bowling around the time of my first marriage (definitely not enough room for the mistakes associated with that, but perhaps another blog when I have a six pack in me:))... Then got back into it after that nightmare was over... Somewhere between 215 and 220 on the china.... I wonder if I have done most of what I am going to do, or if I have more things destined for my bowling future.

Like so many other college bowlers out there, there might have been a window where I could have tried the tour, but that is long gone.  Regionals?  I could try a few, but unless I really commited to a lot of them, I know my chances of shining are slim... So I bowl local leagues and a few tournaments here and there..... enough to keep my competitive juices flowing I guess, who knows.....

Do I regret not trying to chase the brass ring when I was single and concevably could have tried it..... Hell yeah, if I said no, I would be kidding myself.  Sure I am like a ton of other decent to good amateur bowlers... Of course now I have so much at home I would not really want to go out and try it at this point... Almost the same deal with the regionals, plus my wife works some weekends it would just be a nightmare to try and line all of that up...

So here I sit... A decent sized fish in a small pond... I guess that is good.... I just wonder if this is it?  Wonder if anyone else out there feels this way?  Wonder if the guys on tour think this way?  Oh well... Guess time will tell.

Thanks for making it to the end...

I've felt the same way. I don't have the obligations like you do, but my time is very limited. I should have tried the tour when I was at a certain peak, but didn't. I've recently found a window to go back to college and I'm taking advantage of it!

Something I've learned by not attempting the tour is that when an oppertunity presents itself, you grab it!

Though I'm going back to college, I'd like to bowl in one or two more regional tournaments this year, if things are okay with money. There's no shame in bowling in a couple regional tournaments, even if you're not gonna go after the tour. Plus, you never know what can happen from there so make sure you at least try! (sorry, that sounds goofy.)
